Tenzing Dakpa, an alumnus of the Rhode Island School of Design (MFA in Photography, 2016) and the College of Art, New Delhi (BFA in Graphic Design, 2009), is a photographer and director whose work seamlessly blends artistic sensibility with commercial polish.

His distinct style elevates brands to a higher echelon, creating luxury and minimal aesthetics that resonate with Indian storytelling. Dakpa’s impressive portfolio includes advertising campaigns for household names like Chivas, Ballantine’s, Blender’s Pride, Maruti, and Spinny, along with cover shoots for the Indian editions of Vogue and Elle. His fashion clientele boasts brands like Ekaya Banaras, Shwetambari NY, Irth by Titan, Nor Black Nor White, Savio Jon, and Ayu Skincare, while his hospitality work features collaborations with Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Postcard Hotels.
His commercial photography spans fashion, music, and hospitality, always rooted in an editorial understanding of luxury and minimal distraction. Dakpa’s personal work often explores themes of comfort and alienation, drawing on narratives of Tibetan diaspora and migration, frequently returning to his family’s hotel in Sikkim.

Currently residing and working in Goa, his latest projects delve into ecological phenomena – land reclamation, deforestation, burning, and regeneration; through captivating image and sound-based installations.
His photobook, The Hotel, was published by Steidl in 2020.
